Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 6.10 live CD installed

I was going through the Linux tutorial at linuxcommand.org and got to
lesson eight where I tried the example:

sam at Dell4100:~$ xload &
[1] 10726
sam at Dell4100:~$ Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion
Warning: Unable to load any usable fontset

It appears the X windows GUI app xload was unable to parse the non-
character command parameter '&' passed from the terminal when launching
the xload GUI program. The parameter is supposed to run it into the
background and restore the cursor to the terminal. Or the terminal
didn't parse the non-string parameter properly (less likely). Somewhere
in the font conversion from terminal window to GUI, the full ASCI
character set isn't supported.

Or 'xload &' isn't a supported syntax for some reason. Or there is a
fontset missing from the live CD (unlikely).

Obviously, this is a very low priority issue if valid, but I just wanted
to help in any way I can. I've got a new, clean install of Ubuntu 6.10
with a few dozen downloaded apps all of which have installed flawlessly.
I believe I'm using the default GNOME terminal (Apps,Accessories) in
Edgy.

I'm impressed with the lack of errors installing packages from so many
sources. I didn't find any similar font issues posted here.

** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
