Goodness... There has been a lot of action on this bug since I posted
it. : ) I love our community!

To confirm, yes, I am on feisty, and it hardly seems like it matters
now... But my gnome-screensaver is version

gnome-screensaver:
  Installed: 2.17.4-0ubuntu1
