AFAIK bmp doesn't use either of those backends.

My output options/plugs are only ALSA, OSS, and ESD. Mine is set to ALSA
to match the rest of my system.

I have put a 2000 song playlist in totem-gstreamer right now, I'll
switch to totem-xine after and will get back to you with the results
soon.
