You're right... the focus wasn't on the window. There is some strange
behavior related to focus and highlighting that only seems to affect
video files. I should note that video files on my system open in xine
by default.
Try this:
1. Create a folder on your desktop.
2. Place various types of files in it.
3. Open the folder in Nautilus.
3. Double click each file and close the application that opens it.
For most file types, when the application is closed, focus returns to
the Nautilus window. The same is true for video files, but then a split
second later, focus is transfered to the desktop.
Actually, the same is true whether the folder containing the video files
is on the desktop or not. When xine closes, the Nautilus window briefly
receives focus, then transfers focus to the desktop. If you fail to
notice the title bar flash on and off and you press delete, anything you
have selected on the desktop will be deleted.
