This could be fixed in CUPS 1.2.1: http://www.cups.org/str.php?L1680 http://www.cups.org/str.php?L1709 (this is only for custom page sizes) -- changing settings (like paper size) have no effect in CUPS https://launchpad.net/bugs/52017
