Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
When logging in to use user who's home is on NFS, the theme keeps
flickering between default and the one I chose. Looking at "top" shows
that gnome-settings-daemon keeps dying and coming back every second or
so. After 3-4 minutes, it comes up with the message:
There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.
Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work
correctly.
The Settings Daemon restarted too many times.
The last error message was:
System exception: IDL:Bonobo/GeneralError:1.0 : Child process did not
give an error message, unknown failure occurred
GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log
in.
Logging in from a plain text terminal, I see the kernel repeatedly complaining:
[timestamp] nsm_mon_unmon: rpc failed, status=-13
[timestamp] lockd: cannot monitor 192.168.2.5
[timestamp] lockd: failed to monitor 192.168.2.5
Everything was working fine back on breezy
** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
