I've found the problem:  The video output of the Mutlimedia Systems Selecter was set to Xwindow (No XV).  Couple things here:
1) Mutlimedia Systems Selecter was hidden.  Is this visible by default? I may have hidden in by accident.
2) What is the default option of video?  I hope it's not No XV.
3) Perhaps a button could be in the totem configuration that opens the multimedia systems selecter?  When configuring totem, it would be nice to have that link for extra media options that directly affect totem.
