It takes more than 8 seconds for the file chooser to appear in gedit...
using Dapper with libgtk2.0-0_2.8.14-0ubuntu1_i386.deb. The directory
contains about 200 files (.dotfiles included). Performance of the 'new'
file chooser on anything but a clean directory is still abysmal IMnsHO.
