Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34894

Affects: gnome-vfs2 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
since new upgrade all mounted partition are shown in mount disk applet,
desktop and Places. On a system with different partitions for system
(/home, /usr, etc) and many partitioned disks, these policy leads to an
incredibly crowded desktop and a mostly useless mount applet, that spans
through all panel's width. I think this policy must be seriously
reconsidered because it looks terribly, it is not easily configurable
and turns out to be a quite "violent" approach towards users. besides it
doesn't make any sense to see an internal partition of the system (e.g.
the /usr partition) as an independent disk, and can be confusing to a
new-user.
