Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35222
Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
I have a Full Speed (12mbit/s) USB 2.0 mass storage device (1GB capacity). When I copy some files onto the device the progress dialog window appears for a few seconds showing incredibly fast (and sometimes weird, progress bar stops completely a few times, then moves blazingly fast) file transfer and disappears. It's technically possible for such a fast file transfer. The storage device still blinks that files are being copied and it does that for quite a few *minutes* (full speed usb is considered slow when you copy 100-500mb over). This isn't an umount/mount issue. If I take the device out during file transfer (indicated by the device, not gnome, gnome thinks file transfer is long over) the obvious thing happens - the file being copied at the moment of taking the device out will be broken. No further data loss occurs.
Hoary - copy dialog accurate
Breezy - broken
Dapper current (tested this yesterday evening) - broken.
