Daniel, well I meant `root' nodes, but I guess it will become too much
of a hack. So can we just place `Devanagari' as a child of India?
Something like --

India
  Bengali
  Bengali Probhat
  Devanagari
  Gujarati
...
If this is possible, I guess we should go with that.
