Alright, all seems to be working properly now.  The drives aren't listed
in fstab, so they aren't mounted by default.  Now two things that need
some clearing up.

Are NTFS drives added to fstab by default?

Also:  "/dev/hda3:  Not removable media" is not a descriptive error
message.  Perhaps "/dev/hda3: Not removable media and not listed in
/etc/fstab" would be a better choice.
