Public bug report changed:

Comment:
I noticed that the bug only appear if I use the
standard 386 kernel in dapper (2.6.15-17-386 I haven't
tried the later ones). All of gstreamers videosinks
were affected. I compiled my own 2.6.12 with the via
epia DRI patch that I posted on the ubuntu wiki
earlier ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ViaEpiaDriHowto )
and the problem went away. So it might be a kernel bug
in a driver...? I know enough to compile and patch the
kernel but not enough to troubleshoot kernel bugs I'm
afraid.
If you want me to test the latest dapper 386 or 686
kernel let me know.
