Actually I got terribly confused, since my removable volume suddenly was
read-only. This because there was a filesystem error, and the kernel
made it read-only without telling anyone else.

** Summary changed:

- shift-delete does nothing on a read-only volume
+ shift-delete does nothing on a removable volume

** Description changed:

On a normal volume, "delete" puts thing in Trash and shift-delete really
- deletes. On a read-only volume, "delete" really deletes. However when
+ deletes. On a removable volume, "delete" really deletes. However when
you try shift-delete, you would expect it to really delete here also.
But nothing happens - no reaction to the key press.

Thus can be really confusing, especially if you have the habit of using
  shift-delete most of the time.
