As a note, this utility I refer to is in GNOME CVS.  It is the module krb5-auth-dialog.  It is being actively maintained.

Official tarballs are found on ftp.gnome.org.  The latest release is 0.6, from January 2006.

This software should be packaged, and the utility should automatically start for using with Kerberos enabled (not sure how Fedora decides when to start the utility).
