Public bug reported:

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: nautilus

If you double click on a PDF file in Nautilus, a new dialog window
appears saying "Do you want to run <filename> or display its contents?
<filename> is an executable file".

If you choose display, the file is displayed correctly.

However, I don't think you should get this dialog at all - PDFs aren't
(I believe) executable. The default action should simply be to display
them.
