Thanks for your bug. That's not a bug of the package, better to use some user list of forum to ask about how packaging and compilation work.

What does "ls -R /usr/include/gtk-2.0" list? You probably have some user environment set make it use non system libs first. Could you attach the config.log of a build of a GTK application?
