My nautilus doesn't actually look like that.  I just made a mock-up in the Gimp of how I would like it to be.

I also posted this solution in the upstream bug, however, a comment was added about how the gtk people control how GtkFileChooser displays unmounted media.  The gnome developers are simply trying to make nautilus behave like GtkFileChooser.  So maybe this bug should go upstream of the upstream!?

Anyway, my input has been given.  My final comment on the upstream bug was a gconf-editor option which would fix most people's complaints...including mine.
