[Bug 44697] screensaver does not start, only blanks for a second

I'm running gnome-screensaver (dapper) on a T60 Thinkpad, using vesa.
The screensaver starts after the defined period of time, but immediatly
returns to the desktop, allthough there is no application doing
anything, no videos or games. Even if I manually lock the screen, the
password-dialog comes up immediatly, without moving the mouse or typing
on the keyboard.
