It is necessary to install libglitz-dev to compile any programs based on
gtk+.

As the typical error message 
configure:6039:21: error: gtk/gtk.h: No such file or directory

does not contain any hints about that I would highly suggest to reopen
this bug and make libgtk2.0-dev depend on libglitz1-dev

Bug 43040 is btw a duplicate of this one.
