Étienne, there is always a plain colour displayed between the login
screen and the emergence of the desktop. This is because the desktop
image is displayed by Nautilus which is not loaded immediately, but
comes up later during the session. So we will always have a break
between the login screen background and the desktop background. For
Edgy, we could see if we can get Nautilus to "fade in" the desktop
background so that the transition is a sexy smooth one.

One very useful contribution you could make to the artwork is to review
the page at http://daniel.holba.ch/ubuntu/ic/ and look at the sizes
(vector, 16, 24, 32, 48 etc) that we are asking the artists to deliver
the icons in. We want to focus only on the most essential sizes, so if
you can find places where we are asking for sizes that do not currently
exist (they are in RED) but which we don't actually need. If we can make
sure that every size/vector request on that page is actually needed for
Dapper, we will be able to put more polish into the icons we deliver.
