I don't know if this helps: If, after having inserted a video DVD, I
right-click eject the CDRW (the second drive) and close the lid again,
the DVD drive icon reappears in Places>>Computer and I can right-click
eject the DVD (but there's still no icon on the desktop).

It's really strange and it seems I'm the only one affected by this...
