Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When nautilus crashes (on opening Quanta from a ftp network share), it
blocks multiple gnome programs.

After killing nautlius (trough the "program not responding" dialog),
gnome still blocks. Gpanel does nto respond, and new gnome processes do
not get spawned. after closing all programs, the user has only two
options, reboot (manually), or kill X.

Killing X trough crt-alt-backspace, or trought /etc/init.d/stop or
/etc/init.d/restart leaves a bunch of gnome programs running, and
prohibits the user from loggin in again.

After loggin in, only the default background color is shown, not even
the gnome loading panel comes up.

The processes can be killed with -15 by root though.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed
