[Bug 69949] SystemToolsBackends seems to be in busy loop

Public bug reported:

Upgraded from Dapper (6.06) to Efty Edge (6.10).

After booting and starting network-admin the process executing
SystemToolsBackends.pl seems to stuck in a BUSY LOOP.

I have 4 network interfaced configured:
loopback with auto option, 
ppp0 via bluetooth dialup,
eth0 with a static ip address (and /etc/resolv.conf configured accordingly),
eth1 via wireless lan using dhcp.

P.S.: 
Network manager can be started again and also works properly after killing the looping process.
