[Bug 70182] gnome-volume-control crashes upon exit

Public bug reported:

Firefox 2.0 displaying flash video content (youtube, google video, etc)
will lag and/or hang when attempting to change volume settings within
the volume control panel. Attempts to close the panel will result in a
crash. Audio hardware is an Aureal Vortex2-based card (Diamond
MonsterSound MX300 PCI).
