[Bug 71236] notification applet does not display system notification icons on multi-screened display

I have three monitors configured on screens :0.0, :0.1, and :0.2,
without xinerama (I want three semi-independent desktops, not one large
virtual one).  However, the notification area does not function in this
setup.  The applet is displayed, but no notifications appear.  This is
particularly annoying with ekiga, which sits in the system notification
area waiting for input, and gives an error when you try to start a
second instance.
