Just a update in this matter. I can no longer reproduce this bug in the latest build available (6.10) so the problem looks to have been fixed. (Everything installs fine now, yay! :) ) -- Sound hangs in installer CD (6.06.1-desktop-amd64) https://launchpad.net/bugs/64874
