I'm unable to reproduce this in Dapper.

Could you follow the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind
while reproducing the problem?  This may take a long time and may
generate a very large log file.  But that's the only thing I can think
of to isolate the memory consumption.
