[Bug 68301] [edgy] serpentine stalls 'Preparing media files'

Public bug reported:

I've dragged some FLAC files to my Serpentine and and it just stalls on
'Preparing media files'.  No backtrace to the console, nothing.

I accidentally left it all day and came back to the same thing.
