I'd love to reopen it, but I don't see any handy "re-open" links, and I
don't know how to do that in this friendly system.  As a simple matter
of fact, Sebastien is wrong-- I can create a folder named '.something'
on my desktop, and it displays just fine.  I should have replied to this
effect earlier, and I apologize that I didn't.  The bug still seems to
exist.
