[Bug 38844] gossip won't maintain connection

Public bug reported:

It is quite annoying that gossip won't try to reconnect to the server
automatically after suspend-resume, or after the internet connection
goes away for a few minutes. Currently I have to reconnect manually each
time (when I remember to do that). This happens quite frequently because
I am a laptop user.
