I've experienced a corrupt partition table after resizing a ext3 partition. gparted just said "Error" after the resizing step (which was the first one). This was with dapper.
I also think that Ubuntu should ship a more recent gparted version, because from the changelog there seem to get a lot of bugs fixed.

At least there'll be 0.2.x in Edgy, though 0.3.x would be "safer" IMHO.
