[Bug 62342] gdmgreeter Failed to connect to socket

Public bug reported:

instead of using the ubuntu theme, I get a blue theme with a flower.
Also I loose the turnoff and reboot options on my loged in user (i have
to close the session and go to the gdm menu for it).

will be ataching daemon.log and dmesg...
