I got this just yesterday when I ran a gnome-session remotely over
SSH... there were multiple complaints about keyboard layout and
something asking me if I want to use X or GNOME settings, and this
seemed to be related to a breaking keyboard layout applet (and, I think,
trash and a few other applets... not sure)

Will play around when I get the time, or if you think this makes any
sense and you know what the problem is then... great! :)
