Great that is what I need to know. I have confirmed your bug as I have
the same issue with gnome-games version: 1:2.17.91-0ubuntu1 on feisty.

This is basically an enhancement request, it is reasonable to expect
glchess to ask the user if they wish to have those installed or have the
packages required for 3d chess to be installed by default.
