[Bug 87843] Panels crashed while installing sun plugin and runtime, and ripping CD

Public bug reported:

While installing the sun packages (Plug-in and Runtime), and ripping a
CD, first had the top and bottom panels freeze up. Then when tried to
restart GDM from tty1 got a message that the panels where already
started... thus ending with no panels.
