Thanks for the logs so far. The problem is that hal does not detect any
file system on the PDA hard drive (/dev/sdb1):

  volume.label = ''  (string)
  volume.uuid = ''  (string)
  volume.fsversion = ''  (string)
  volume.fsusage = ''  (string)
  volume.fstype = ''  (string)
  storage.model = ''  (string)

However, to find out why I need a hal debug log, as described on the
second half of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices. Can
you please do that and attach the log? Thank you!
