This happens only with dial-up connections (56k). I am assuming it freezes when it is downloading my large IMAP files and inbox. However, neither Netscape nor Mozilla have a problem with this when using dial-up. -- Evolution freezes after installing IMAP account https://launchpad.net/bugs/88413
