Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nautilus
my local user name is spliffy. when i connect to:
ssh://mng@infra/home/mng (note the different user) then i will not be
possible to change file permissions on remote files, although I would
have permissions.
what I have done:
1) connected to a remote server as described above
2) right clicked on a file, selected Properties
3) changed to tab Permissions
then the owner/group/others' widgets are disabled (grayed out).
maybe this is no bug at all an it isn't possible to allow this. mind
you, there are many networks using nis/ldap or some other infrastructure
to keep the uid/gid's in sync. is it possible to re-enable the
permission settings via the gnome configuration ?
** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Unconfirmed
