There is over a thousand of desktop bugs open at the moment and only
very few people working on them. You are the only one getting that
problem and it doesn't look like a GNOME problem (gnome-session and gdm
only display things at screen, if that breaks that's not likely due to
the application itself), there is not likely than the desktop team will
work on that. Could you attach /var/log/messages, /var/log/syslog and
/var/log/Xorg.0.log, they might point a problem
