I confirm Unix time has this bug as well. For the record, the solution to have panel back was "sudo mv /usr/lib/gnome-panel/libclock-applet.so /usr/lib/gnome-panel/libclock-applet.so~" and then remove the applet from the panel. -- Internet time clock crashes gnome-panel https://launchpad.net/bugs/88939
