I installed Xubuntu 6.10 which comes with Xfce 3.9.x, then upgraded to Xfce 4.0 from deb http://ubuntu.tolero.org/ edgy xfce-4-4-0.
I had Evolution 2.8.1 installed previously, no problem, since I upgraded Xfce the desktop starts with the error message that /user/libexec/evolution-data-server-1.8 has crashed and that I should report this error.  This happens regularly, on about every second or third bootup.
Evolution nevertheless works fine.
