After removing all my themes from ~/.themes
I'm still having the problems, but logging in with the gnome failsafe
session works.
I changed my theme to the default "Human".
My latest .xsession-errors is as follows:
mitch at carnage:~$ cat .xsession-errors
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/X11R6/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l ":0" "mitch"
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
SESSION_MANAGER=local/carnage:/tmp/.ICE-unix/5628
Initializing gnome-mount extension
(update-notifier:5702): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
IO error occured opening connection.
I'm unsure how to start gnome-session with valgrind however... I will
look into that portion of it.
