Perhaps I should not have mentioned this problem, but I was trying to be
helpful.  I switched my daughter's computer from Windows to Ubuntu.  The
computer is at her place now and she is using Thunderbird.  I am a
Gentoo user, but was very impressed with Ubuntu.  Sorry,
