I get the Xorg error screen,then if I change "nvidia" to "nv" in 
xorg.conf, I get 2 (or 3) terminals after startx.I can see desktop 
behind terminals, but cannot access it.
No error message other than Xorg failure

I rebooted using 2.6.20.9, ran sudo apt-get update and all is well now.

Sorry for the poor report, I'm relatively new to computers (3yrs) so i 
don't quite know what I'm talking about.
