Note that:

  /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh

will do a direct "shutdown -h" if it does not find a policy manager
(gnome-power-manager/kpowersave) already running.

Is 'hal' generating a 'power' keypress based on the ACPI event and then
an ACPI event based on the keypress.
