I would like for the ldm login screen to be themable; however, the priority
for this release was for it to be functional.

You can.  There are several supported X configurations at present:

- "ldm"
  Runs a (currently quite simple) local login program and then manages the
  session securely over ssh.  This is the default.

- "startx"
  The traditional LTSP configuration which runs an X server locally, and
  uses cleartext communication across the network to a remote display
  manager (such as gdm).  You use it by specifying SCREEN_07=startx in an
  appropriate section of lts.conf

- "sdm"
  Similar in spirit to ldm, but with a different design.  Support in ltsp
  for this method was contributed by another developer and I haven't yet
  used it myself.
