Edubuntu Lite?

Jim,
You could use VMware Server (which is free) to setup a virtual machine
on your primary workstation that runs Edubuntu. This will use some of
the resources on your workstation, but it can provide the LTSP service
for your laptop without having to dedicate the entire workstation. It
is very easy to work with virtual machines, if you have never done it
before. And since VMware Server is available at no cost, it is a very
valuable tool.
The easiest solution is probably what Mauricio recommended. Start with
a normal Edubuntu install, and then run "sudo apt-get install
xubuntu-desktop". This should now run better on fewer resources than
the default install.
Good luck!

Thanks. Yes I had thought about this, but this would require one to
setup a
dedicated Edubuntu server which unfortunately I don't have available
at
home. For my situation, I'm seeking a "standalone" solution - if it
exists.
