help

Hey there
Im pretty new to ubuntu but im getting the hang of it.
My problem is i got it installed on a compaq i have but now i want to put it
onto my Dell dimension 8400. The installation for dapper on my compaq was
seamless and i love using it but my Dell has a bigger harddrive and more
RAM. Basicly altogether better. The thing is when i go to install it it
stalls on "Mounting root file system.." and then after a few minutes goes to
a black screen and starts loading some script one after another. Im stuck...
please help?
