DVD installation question

It's during the "Install base package" section of the install. I'm familiar with SuSE, Mandriva, where it downloads updates after most of the installation, it doesn't seem like that. It isn't hitting the DVD at all for data during this part.
I also wouldn't expect security updates to prevent one from installing the OS either...
Without a net connection it won't allow me to install.

I am not sure about Edubuntu.  But Ubuntu will download all security updates
during the install if you have a net connection.
